The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced a final 30-day grace period for individuals previously exempted from overstay fines due to exceptional regional circumstances that disrupted travel earlier this year. The grace period began on June 10 and will remain in effect until July 9. During this period, eligible individuals can either regularise their residency status in the UAE or leave the country in accordance with applicable procedures.
The ICP said the measure is intended to promote compliance with UAE laws while providing affected individuals with an opportunity to continue living and working in the country legally, now that regional conditions have stabilised and normal travel operations have largely resumed.
The Authority noted that its earlier decision, issued in March this year, exempted overstay fines for people who were unable to depart the UAE because of airspace closures and flight suspensions that began on February 28. Beneficiaries included visa holders, departure permit holders, and residents whose permits had been cancelled but who could not leave due to circumstances beyond their control.According to the ICP, the exceptional conditions that justified the exemption no longer exist. As a result, the current grace period represents a final opportunity for affected individuals to either adjust their status or depart the country . The Authority added that beneficiaries are not required to complete any additional procedures to qualify for the grace period and urged all concerned individuals to follow official ICP communication channels for further guidance and updates.
