PM Modi extends Navratri greetings, invokes Maa Mahagauri’s blessings for prosperity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to devotees on the occasion of Navratri, invoking the blessings of Goddess Mahagauri and wishing for a bright future, success and prosperity for all.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “May the blessings of Mother Mahagauri, the goddess of sacrifice and penance, brighten everyone’s future. May everyone attain fame and glory in life—this is our heartfelt wish.”

PM Modi also shared a YouTube link to the devotional bhajan Narayani Namastute by Birendrakrishna Bhadra, highlighting the spiritual significance of the festival.

The Prime Minister further shared a Sanskrit verse dedicated to Goddess Durga, emphasising her protective powers and the blessings bestowed upon devotees.

“Those devotees who remember Goddess Durga with devotion surely experience progress and prosperity. O goddess, sovereign of the gods! You protect those who meditate upon you from all calamities—of this, there is absolutely no doubt,” the verse read.

Goddess Mahagauri, worshipped as the eighth form of Goddess Durga, symbolises purity, peace and compassion. Devotees seek her blessings for happiness, well-being and prosperity during Navratri.

According to the Hindu calendar, Ashtami Tithi began on October 18 and concludes on the morning of October 19, marking the beginning of Navami Tithi.

Meanwhile, devotees thronged temples across the country to offer prayers to Goddess Durga and seek blessings for the well-being and prosperity of their families.

Temples witnessed a steady influx of worshippers, with devotional chants, special prayers and traditional rituals marking the festivities.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, a large number of devotees visited the Maa Siddhidatri Devi Temple to offer prayers to Goddess Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga. Worshippers participated in traditional rituals as the nine-day festival approached its conclusion.

In the national capital, devotees gathered at the Jhandewalan Temple on the ninth day of Shardiya Navratri to offer prayers and participate in religious ceremonies.

Navratri, dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, is celebrated across India with fasting, prayers, devotional singing and special rituals.
