Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed his participation in the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi in September. The Prime Minister’s visit to India will be part of his three-nation tour. Apart from India, he will be visiting Indonesia and the Philippines.

“Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will travel to Indonesia, the Philippines, and India in September to meet with regional leaders to discuss global challenges and advance Australia’s economic, security, and climate agenda,” said the Australian government in a statement.

The G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation, representing around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world’s population. The upcoming G20 Summit will be one of the highest-profile international gatherings to be hosted by India. Further, the leaders will focus on navigating the global economy back to strong, sustainable, and resilient growth.

“It is more important than ever that Australia works closely with international partners, including through multilateral economic forums like the G20, to address shared challenges and opportunities,” said PM Albanese.

The G20 is an intergovernmental association of the largest developing and developed nations on the globe. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK, US, and the European Union make up this group.

In Jakarta, Indonesia, PM Albanese will attend the 3rd Annual ASEAN-Australia Summit and the 18th East Asia Summit. PM Albanese’s visit to the Philippines will be the first bilateral visit of an Australian Prime Minister to the Philippines since 2003. There, he is scheduled to meet President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
