The GPAI Summit in New Delhi witnessed the unanimous adoption of the “New Delhi Declaration” by all 29 member nations, emphasizing international collaboration in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The declaration reflects a commitment to advancing AI applications collectively, with a focus on healthcare, agriculture, and addressing the unique needs of the Global South in AI development.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Information Technology, highlighted GPAI’s pivotal role in shaping the future of AI through innovation and collaboration. The Delhi declaration signifies GPAI’s dedication to extending AI benefits globally, with a specific emphasis on countries from the Global South.
The declaration outlines GPAI’s focus on establishing a global framework for AI trust and safety to democratize access to AI solutions worldwide. Chandrasekhar also announced India’s proposal to host the GPAI Governance Summit, aiming to finalize a common minimum framework for Safe and Trusted AI.
The three-day summit, from December 12th to today, brought together GPAI’s 29 member countries, emphasizing practical implementation and cutting-edge research in AI-related priorities.
