In a bid to promote tourism and foster global interactions, Iran has officially announced its decision to grant visa-free entry to Indian citizens starting from February 4, subject to four conditions.
Conditions listed out by the Iranian embassy:
1. Individuals holding ordinary passports are permitted visa-free entry every six months, with a maximum stay of 15 days. It is crucial to note that this 15-day period is non-extendable.
2. The visa waiver specifically pertains to individuals entering Iran for tourism purposes.
3. Should Indian nationals desire a longer stay, multiple entries within a six-month period, or require different types of visas, they must obtain the necessary visas through the respective representations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India.
4. The visa waiver outlined in this approval is exclusively applicable to Indian nationals entering the country via air borders.
In December, Iran approved a new visa-free programme for India and 32 other countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.
This move is anticipated to enhance travel opportunities and cultural exchanges between India and Iran, aligning with the latter’s vision of becoming a more accessible destination for international visitors.
In January this year, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar traveled to Iran, during which he held a variety of bilateral and regional talks with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
