A Pakistani drone struck a residential area in Firozpur, Punjab, on Friday, leaving three people injured. The victims sustained burn injuries and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, according to Firozpur SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu.
“We received information about three injured persons. They have sustained burn injuries and are being treated by doctors. Most of the drones have been neutralized by the army,” Sidhu said.
Indian Air Defence successfully intercepted most of the drones spotted over Firozpur.
Further details are awaited.
This incident follows a failed attempt by Pakistan to target civilian infrastructure along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, which was thwarted by Indian air defence systems a day earlier. On Friday, additional Pakistani drones were sighted in the Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot sectors.
In the Samba sector, red streaks and loud explosions were reported as Indian air defence intercepted drones during a blackout.
As a precautionary measure amid rising tensions, a complete blackout has been enforced in several regions, including Akhnoor and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir; Ambala and Panchkula in Haryana; Firozpur in Punjab; and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
