In a world where doors seem to close for some, windows of opportunity swing open, revealing untold stories of resilience and creativity. Amritansh, a non-verbal autistic teenager, stands as a testament to this adage. What began as a means to make his learning more engaging soon blossomed into a remarkable journey of self-expression through art.
Amritansh, an outsider artist who lives in Gurugram, delves into the realm of abstract artwork, using unconventional palettes that transform canvases into universes, oceans, and flower fields. His unique perspective offers a fresh and insightful take on the world, transcending cultural and societal boundaries. Through his vibrant colors, he discovers a voice that resonates not only within himself but also with those fortunate enough to witness his creations.
In his latest exhibition, titled ‘Colours of Silence,’ 15-year-old Amritansh unveiled his masterpieces at the National Assembly building in Seoul, South Korea, from November 6-7. The event marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and the Republic of Korea, bringing together the Pravritti trust from India and Moa Bridge of Korea to celebrate diversity and inclusivity through art.
Amritansh’s solo international debut at the prestigious National Assembly members hall made history, showcasing that talent knows no borders. His artwork serves as a beacon, challenging perceptions and proving that he is not ‘disabled’ but ‘differently-abled.’
The event was inaugurated by the Indian ambassador, Amit Kumar, and South Korean lawmaker Han Jun-ho. Mr. Kumar highlighted the crucial role played by Amritansh’s mother and grandparents, emphasizing the unique contributions each individual can make to the world.
Han Jun-ho, lawmaker from Goyang city and a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, commended Amritansh for overcoming developmental disabilities through his art. He noted that Amritansh’s realm could be broadly categorized into two themes – nature and emotions, and universe and world. This division fosters a connection with the audience, bridging the gap through shared experiences and emotions.
Amritansh’s artistic journey began in 2018 when he participated in the ‘Views from Planet Autism’ group exhibition by Action for Autism. His art has been a powerful tool for spreading awareness about autism, as demonstrated in a webinar by the YWCA.
From his first solo exhibition, ‘Awesomism Autism,’ in Patna on World Autism Awareness Day in 2022, Amritansh has continued to captivate audiences with his unique vision and unwavering spirit. His story serves as an inspiration for creating a more inclusive world, where creativity knows no bounds and differences become a source of strength.
