MeitY’s Republic Day Tableau to show India’s AI progress across sectors

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)’s tableau for Republic Day will illustrate India’s strides in leveraging AI across crucial sectors, including Healthcare, Logistics, and Education, promoting trustworthy AI for social empowerment. The tableau features captivating visuals, with a female robot symbolizing AI in a contemplative pose, reflecting on the positive impact of AI on global citizens.

India stole the spotlight at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Annual Summit held in December 2023. As the lead chair, India orchestrated a collaborative effort among member nations, international bodies, experts, and stakeholders to chart a course for the safe and trustworthy development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to address global societal challenges.

The year 2023-24 has been hailed as the pinnacle of AI integration into various facets of Indian society. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister and his mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Prayas,” India showcased groundbreaking initiatives like Digital India Bhashini and DIGI Yatra, demonstrating how AI can be a force for social good, enhancing living standards, facilitating business, and optimizing governance.

At the GPAI Summit, India highlighted its commitment to inclusive development and emphasized the importance of collective action in advancing AI for the benefit of all. The nation, guided by an inclusive philosophy, hosted discussions that focused on fostering a collaborative approach to ensure the responsible development and deployment of AI solutions globally.

AI, recognized as a dynamic catalyst, is poised to propel India beyond traditional development barriers, triggering significant socio-economic transformation. Projections estimate that AI will contribute a staggering USD $967 billion to the Indian economy by 2035.

The tractor portion of the display showcases a 3D scale model of a semiconductor chip, emphasizing India’s advancements in Electronics Manufacturing, particularly through schemes like PLI. The circuit design adorned with LED lights symbolizes the energy AI brings to propel development in various sectors.

The tableau’s trailer portion highlights AI applications in Logistics, Healthcare, and Education through visually engaging metaphors. From robotic-assisted surgeries to self-delivery drones and innovative education methods, the tableau captures the diverse applications of AI in daily life.

A closer look at the tableau reveals the role of AI in Health, Logistics, and Education. The depiction includes a surgical scene with robotic hands, a logistics segment featuring color-coded parcel identification, and an educational setting with a larger-than-life statue of a teacher using Virtual Reality for remote classes.

The rear portion underscores AI’s role in Education with a statue of a teacher in a VR headset conducting a remote class. The bottom portion features AI monitoring cattle health through sensors and aiding visually impaired individuals in navigation. Empowering women through the Digital India Programme is symbolized by female students on battery scooters traversing the Kartavya Path.

MeitY’s tableau masterfully communicates the integral role of AI in daily life, portraying women as key protagonists in various sectors.
