The highly anticipated Eid releases, ‘Maidaan’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, which were originally slated to hit the theatres on April 10, will now arrive in cinema halls a day later, on April 11.
Actors Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, who play lead roles in the action thriller, released a video on social media to announce the revised release date. Ajay Devgn also provided an update about ‘Maidaan’ on his Instagram account.
In the video, Akshay said, “UAE has declared that Eid is on April 10, which means, in India, it will be celebrated on April 11.” Tiger added, “We have always said ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ will release on Eid. We will keep our promise and will meet you at the cinema halls on April 11 only.”
Ajay Devgn, while sharing a poster of his film which mentions April 11 as the release date, wrote, “Mark your calendars! Maidaan release across cinemas in India on 10th April, with special previews starting 6pm onwards. Full scale release to follow on the Eid holiday on 11th April.”
Boney Kapoor’s ‘Maidaan’ has received a good response from film critics ahead of its release. The sports biopic has Devgn playing the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, the coach and manager of the Indian football team, who helmed the golden era of Indian football between 1952 and 1962 when the country won two Asian Games gold medals and reached the semis of the 1956 Olympics.
On the other hand, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is shot across various locations such as Mumbai, London, Abu Dhabi, Scotland, and Jordan. This pan-India film is making waves for its grand scale and impressive action sequences.
