OSOP initiative helping divyangjan artisans expand market reach and achieve economic independence

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is promoting the products of Divyangjan artisans through the One Station One Product (OSOP) initiative under the PM Vishwakarma (PMV) Scheme, providing them with greater market access and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

PM Vishwakarma is a flagship government scheme aimed at supporting traditional artisans and craftspeople through the pillars of Samman (Recognition), Samarthya (Capability) and Samriddhi (Prosperity). As part of the Samriddhi component, dedicated retail outlets have been established at selected high-footfall railway stations across the country to showcase and sell products made by Divyangjan Vishwakarma artisans.

The initiative is helping artisans increase the visibility of their products, reach a wider customer base and improve their incomes. The Ministry said the programme is also promoting economic inclusion, financial independence and socio-economic empowerment among Divyangjan artisans.

According to official data, 28 Divyangjan beneficiaries from various trades have so far been allotted stalls under the OSOP initiative across 12 states and Union Territories. The beneficiaries include cobblers, sculptors, carpenters, doll and toy makers, metal smiths, basket makers and tailors.

Among the beneficiaries is Indore-based sculptor Atul, who specialises in crystal-based statues and utility products. After registering under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and receiving skill training, he was allotted a retail outlet at Platform No. 1 of Indore Railway Station. Since the outlet’s inauguration in January 2026, his products have received an encouraging response from customers, leading to steadily rising sales.

Another beneficiary, Ajeet Sharma, a Divyang metal smith from Jharkhand, was allotted a retail outlet near Deoghar Railway Station to sell handcrafted metal products. He reportedly earned ₹19,000 within just 15 days of operating the stall. Officials said his journey demonstrates how skill development and market support under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme are helping Divyangjan artisans build sustainable livelihoods.

Similarly, Ghanshyam Kumawat, a Divyang carpenter from Jaipur, Rajasthan, has benefited from the initiative through a retail outlet near Gandhinagar Railway Station. His handcrafted wood products generated significant revenue within a fortnight, helping improve his family’s economic condition while earning customer trust through quality workmanship.

The Ministry noted that the OSOP initiative has had a transformative impact on the lives of Divyangjan artisans by creating opportunities for economic self-reliance. Recognising the unique challenges faced by differently-abled artisans, the programme seeks to provide them with resources, training and market access to help them thrive in a competitive environment.

According to the ministry, the initiative is fostering an inclusive ecosystem where Divyangjan artisans can contribute meaningfully to India’s rich craft heritage while securing dignified and sustainable livelihoods. Through targeted support and improved market linkages, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme continues to strengthen economic empowerment and social inclusion across the country.
